Angel
Living up to her name, Angel is just that. She is the mother of Shade and like her daughter, she was gifted with the promise of being able to live her days here. She is a ground only horse, and we feel blessed to have her.
-
Toby
Our go-to boy for those who are afraid, or have had bad experiences in the past. Toby has the ability to make everyone feel safe and comfortable. He loves attention and will take all the love anyone would offer him. He wears his heart on his shoulder - literally there is a heart-shaped spot on his shoulder, which we think is a sign!
-
Dusty
Dusty is one of the most tried and true horses in the program. He’s seen it all and done it all. Though he typically serves as a trail guide, on occasion he is ridden by guests. He seems to know who is on his back. His temperament changes according to who is in the saddle. This boy is a treasure!
Dusty is often the star of the show for round pen demonstrations, and lessons. He takes such good care of our guests.
-
Kona
Kona is the BIGGEST horse in our program. Though she is young, she is our greatest helper when it comes to taking care of struggling horses. She is calm and steady in the face of trouble and is happy to escort horses that are in training on a lead or be their pen mate when no other horse will accept them. Kona usually serves as one of our head guidehorses.
-
Betty
Sweet Betty was donated to our program after her "person" passed away. She has proven to be such great addition to our Three Willows family and is already becoming a favorite among guests.
-
Palomo
Palomo is as handsome as they come. He is confident and collected, in the face of surprises he is unphased. He tends to be a leader and somewhat of a loner among his horse friends.
Until recently he was less social with humans but after months of interaction with guests and volunteers he has become much warmer and really seems to have embraced the opportunity to interact and connect.
-
Murphy
Murphy is a sweet old fella with quite a history. Because he was not treated well in his early life, he tends to be extremely vigilant and sometimes a bit skeptical but that doesn't stop him being one of the sweetest horses in our family.
-
Shadow Dancer (RIP)
We lost Shadow, who we called Shade due to colic. It was a devastating loss to our program. She was without a doubt the sweetest horse you would ever meet. She was actually born on the property and was gifted to us by her previous owners with the promise she could live out her days here, which she did. She served our guests from the ground only.
Afraid of horses? You wouldn’t be after meeting her. She was the most sensitive and intuitive horse in the program.
She is irreplaceable and will always be missed.
-
Poquito (RIP)
Poquito, a.k.a. “Sweetie Poquiti” was diagnosed with an incurable, untreatable, and ultimately terminal genetic disorder known as PSSM.
Poquito was as sweet as they come…on the ground. On the ground, he was in your pocket and will always meet you at the gate. But in the saddle…not so much. He was one of our trail guides, as he allowed few to ride him. But he served us well as one of our greatest guides and companions.
-
Scooter (RIP)
Scooter was our first "rescued" horse and was perhaps our most relatable horse. With Scoot, the struggle was real. Though he was loving and gentle both on the ground and in the saddle, he was riddled with challenges of all kinds. He had terrible anxiety particularly if he is separated from his best friend Kona. Also, he was plagued with health challenges that included his feet and legs. Scooter was only ridden when he was well enough. Still, he loved life and wanted all the snuggles he could get, from humans or horses. We will miss Scooter’s tongue which was always out.
-
Sheenah (RIP)
Our sweet Sheenah “the Queenah”, was found to have tumors in her bowels. She was our oldest horse in the program. She was also Toby’s mama. Sheenah was very stoic and somewhat reserved but also very kind and affectionate. She instilled peace and confidence in the hearts of so many and was a favorite among guests both on the ground and in the saddle. We were honored to have her as the Queen of our program, her throne will remain empty as no other could fill her role.
